Activities
Welcome to the Good Shepherd activities page. As a way to fully participate in the life of the congregation, members are encouraged to join various groups. Some offer opportunities to pursue special interests, others focus on bringing together people with a commonality. Please browse the list for activities of interest.
Blood Drive
Three times a year, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church co-sponsors a blood drive.
Bible Study
Throughout the year, Pastor Schuetze conducts various Bible studies focusing on the major themes in the Bible and the relevence today.
Book Club
The Book Club is an informal discussion of books, both fiction and nonfiction, chosen by the group.
Men of Good Shepherd
The Men of Good Shepherd is a gathering of members and friends who meet for breakfast at 8:00 AM on the first Saturday of each month, and get together at other times for outreach and fellowship activities.
Mixed Blessings
Mixed Blessings is a group of folks of mixed ages-singles, couples, and families. Mixed Blessings offers a "potluck" luncheon on the second Sunday of the month following the 11 o'clock service. A sign-up sheet is posted in the lounge to volunteer to help. Members host an activity or event open for all to attend. Look for announcements in the bulletin or newsletter or a sign-up sheet in the lounge to participate.
Pastor's Class
Pastor Schuetze will be leading an exploration of the principal themes of the Christian Faith from a Lutheran vantage point. All are welcome to participate in this series of five discussions. This is our favorite way of preparing new members to be received into the life and mission of Good Shepherd. For more information, contact Pastor Schuetze. All are welcome to join in.
Softball Team
The team plays in a genuinely co-ed city league for enjoyment, fellowship and exercise. Games are held from spring to fall. All comers are welcome.
Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA)
The Women of the ELCA is an active organization that ministers to and through the women of the congregation. It supports women in spiritual growth, service, and mission in the congregation and in the community. Three circles meet monthly on weekday mornings and evenings for Bible study. A Sewing Group meets the first Thursday of the month. Special programs are offered occasionally for all women of the congregation, and friends are always welcome. Special projects such as Thankoffering boxes are outreach programs supported by the Women.
Young in Heart
This is Good Shepherd's program for retired people and senior citizens in congregation and community. The group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month for a luncheon and entertainment program of mutual interest. Assistance is needed in the preparation of lunches as well as with programs.
The Youth Ministry
The youth program at Good Shepherd provides opportunities for the youth of the congregation and the community to share faith and fellowship through a variety of activities.
Many other groups and individuals are involved in various activities at Good Shepherd throughout the year. If you have an interest in an area that does not appear to fit into any of these groups, please contact Pastor Schuetze.
